Is there anyway to stop item from showing in the ticker if they are removed from the rss feed?

Second, is there anyway to make the ticker not display if the rss feed is empty?

The ticker caches RSS feeds for 10 minutes, and then reloads form the source. So, once items are removed from the RSS they should stop displaying in your feed within 10 minutes or so. Is this not happening for you?

There currently isn't any way to hide the ticker if there aren't any ticks, but I'll try to add that a feature in an upcoming update.

    Thanks for your purchase!

It seem once the feed went empty it left the old stories in the ticker forever. About six hours later a new story was posted in the feed, at that point it cleared out the old ones and the ticker was left with the one new story.

Ok, interesting. I'll have to look into this issue. Thanks for letting me know!

I have made a quick and dirty javascript fix to remove the ticker when it's empty. It appears on the page for a second then disappears when empty. So this should get me by for now on that issue.

But I seem to be having an issue with the ticker updating.  The way our setup work is our main news site (thecourier.com) will post breaking news through out the day. Then sometime after midnight it will flush out all the breaking news stories for that day. Then repeat the process for the next day.

When I first setup the ticker it brings in the current stories and works fine. When I check the ticker the next morning its empty like it should be. But as new stories are added in to the sources site the following day they never show in the ticker.

If you want to look at the feed we are using and see if you get the same results it's http://thecourier.com/category/breaking-news-ticker/feed/

Thanks for the information. I'll do some testing on this in the next few days. I'll keep an eye on your feed, but I'll also setup my own test that add and remove feed items to see how the ticker responds.

Also, I just released an update that adds options to hide the ticker if the ticks are empty. There's a setting in the Global options for each ticker (it will be set to hide for all new tickers, but existing tickers will need to be updated manually), as well as a new option on the Ditty News Ticker Widget.

I have released another update that should resolve your feed cache issues.
