I have added the RSS ticker extension today but the RSS feed URL of http://blog.st-peters-farnworth.bolton.sch.uk/multifeed is displaying as this
on this webpage http://www.st-peters-farnworth.bolton.sch.uk/
Please note, these two sites are completely separate. What is causing this error?
This could just be a temporary error with your server trying to connect to the RSS feed's server. I tested the RSS feed with my install and it loaded up right away.
I don't have a way to increase the connection timeout built into the plugin, but for testing purposes you can try editing the file at "wp-content/plugins/ditty-rss-ticker/includes/functions.php" at line #115.
Add the following:
... right after:
$rss->set_cache_duration( intval($settings['cache_time'])*60 );
And then save the file. This should increase the amount of time WordPress tries to load the RSS feed before it times out. Let me know if that helps.
There could also be other plugins/themes on your site that are somehow affecting the load time of external files. Please run through this article to test this out as well: https://metaphorcreations.ticksy.com/article/1483
Thanks for your purchase!
